LeRoy Dick, our founder
It has been our tradition to honor our founder, LeRoy Dick, in the month of May. Haiti has been forever changed because of the willingness of LeRoy and Evelyn who poured their lives into the beautiful people of Haiti. Their first project was literacy. It was called Each One Teach One Reach One. The method was to teach a group of people in a community how to teach their friends and neighbors how to read Creole. Their lives have exemplified this program. They have touched the lives of the people in Haiti who in turn have been an example and testament to the living Christ. Here are a few photos from the past and two from one of the satellite churches.
The Vine Evangelical Baptist Church in Charles is one of the satellite churches of Vine Church. Charles is in West Haiti. The Pastor’s name is Amboise Delva. He is married with three children. Each Sunday, 80 to 90 people meet in the little building to worship and hear God’s word. This area of Haiti is prone to hurricanes. As you can see in the photo, the roof is not designed to withstand high winds. It would be a great blessing to these people to have the wooden rafters replaced with welded iron so it would not blow away. Also, the walls need reinforcing. Please pray with us as we determine how we can help them.
It time to support children for school. Our goal this year is to send 240 to school.
With so much instability in Haiti, education will help provide a better future. Pastor Telfort says, "outside of salvation, education is the one thing that will prepare these children for the years ahead". If you have not supported a student before, please consider doing so this year.
