SEPTEMBER 2019

Greetings friends from Haiti. We arrived in Port-au-Prince last Wednesday, August 21. Our car was very full since we brought in 4 full suitcases of medical supplies for the Clinic. We must have looked unusual with the back of our car filled to the top with luggage. We were stopped by the local police twice on the way to our hotel. They were pleasant, checked out registration and license, then sent us on our way.

Dawn Bowman from Pittsburgh, PA came with us to help with the registration of students. Her photography is superb as you will see in the student photos. She will also be working with Haddassa, Pastor Daniel and Anne’s daughter later in the week.

This year was special. We were introduced to ArrisDesrosier, a company in Haiti that manufactures back packs out of plastic water bags discarded on the street. They are very sturdy, colorful, and large enough to carry plenty of school supplies. The kids were absolutely delighted with them.

Each year the kids arrive at the church to wait to receive their money for school. Some stay all day. We were very concerned that they had nothing for lunch. This year we provided lunch for them. The food was made by ladies in the church. When it arrived, it smelled delicious. It was enjoyed by all the children and their parents.

Clinic supplies were provided by Brother’s Brother, a nonprofit organization in Pittsburgh. They receive from hospitals extra medical supplies no longer needed and distribute them to those who need them. We were privileged to bring these much-needed supplies for our Clinic.

Zeke Colonval, our grandson, was inspired to raise money for water purification devices. He chose the “Life Straw” for his device. These were given to the Clinic to distribute to those who in need of a clean water source. We are anxious to know how they perform in this country.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support over the last month, especially the last week in August.

May the Lord continue to bless and support you in every way.
