MARCH 2017

There have been difficult times at Vine Church. A young mother, age 36 died this last month. She was a Medical Doctor, and left behind a daughter and husband. The husband is second in charge of the choirs at Vine Church. She probably died of cancer. As you know, the medical care in Haiti is not as advanced as in the US and other countries.

As I pray for this family I consider the Clinic project we have started here. Although it is small, it stands to have great impact on the church and the surrounding community. Step by step it will grow to fill the need for quality care in Port-au-Prince. Your support of this project makes it possible to continue to upgrade our clinic. As part of upgrading we are continuing to search for and purchase quality medical equipment.

We are very grateful to the groups and individuals who have helped with the cost of repairing our car in Haiti. Parts can now be purchased and the clutch/flywheel repaired. Good reliable transportation is very important in Haiti. This car has served us over the last 13 years and still has good miles left in it.

Evelyn’s knee replacement surgery has been delayed until April 3rd. The delay was due to surgeon’s schedule and not for any other reason. Mom goes to the gym several times a week to strengthen her knees prior to this surgery. Please pray for good health and a successful replacement.

This spring we are limited to the amount of traveling we can do. Usually we are able to make it to churches out East. Due to Evelyn’s knee recovery we will not make any long trips. BUT, if you are within a day’s travel of Goshen Indiana we are able to make the trip.

March, May, June and July are all possible times we can visit your church or group. Give me a call, 574-534-8325, and we can discuss the details.

Resting in His love,

FEBRUARY 2017

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!  Matthew 7:11

God is good and He cannot be anything other than good. Even in the middle of temptation and trial, His goodness is what we lean on to carry us through. Just like knowing a true earthly father will always care and protect his children, so does our heavenly Father care for and protect us.

News in Haiti: the presidential election took place on November 20. Prayers were answered as there were no riots in the streets of Port-au-Prince. The new president, Jovenel Moise, will take office on February 7.

At the writing of this letter, a team from the Clinic is traveling to Southern Haiti, Cayes, to help those devastated by the Hurricane. We are looking forward to a report soon.

It has been 6 years since the earthquake in Haiti. We never want to forget those who lost their lives or were injured. It is estimated that around 300,000 died and the same number were injured with 1.5 million people displaced. Our prayers continue for blessing, prosperity and safety for this nation.

Our dear sister Marie St Amour continues in rehabilitation after her successful heart transplant last October. She and Pastor Joel St Amour are living in Michigan where she can be close to the hospital and Doctors providing her care. Please continue to pray for her and Pastor Joel.

Pastor Daniel Telfort continues as associate pastor at Vine Church working tirelessly in this growing congregation. Pastor Daniel gives praise to God that in this last year 72 came to Christ, 22 weddings were performed, 9 children were dedicated and 23 Christians joined the church by affiliation. Pastor Daniel continues to teach at the Seminary of Evangelical Theology of Port-au-Prince (STEP). This semester he is teaching the Old Testament Prophetic books, Evangelism and Philosophy of Religion. We are so grateful for his ongoing work of Bible translation. He is finishing 2 Kings and moving on to Chronicles.

We also praise God for a growing children’s department. Sister Merzula Jean and her team who teach about 100 children in Children’s Church.

Pastor Daniel has asked us to pray for several in Vine Church. Please pray for Sister Marie Feney whose mother passed away the end of December. Also, pray for Sister Francoise Leger who is the wife of the assistant choir director of the Central Choir at Vine Church. She has been sick for a long time and the doctors are not sure as to what the ailment is. Her family is not Christian and are encouraging her to seek the help of the witch doctor. Please pray the Lord show Himself powerful and mighty on their behalf.

Electricity is very unpredictable in Haiti. Depending on one’s location, electricity is typically provided by the public utility company over the midnight hours. For this reason, Pastor Daniel and his family have been saving for a generator in their home. This is something with which you could help him if you so desire.

Our car in Haiti is also in need of repair which could cost $5000.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support for our brothers and sisters in Haiti for which you are making a significant difference in their lives.

JANUARY 2017

“Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” Jn 17: 25-26

Love is not always seen or heard like we would like to see and hear it. Sometimes it has to be felt in the atmosphere. This photo is of the leaders of Vine Church the Sunday morning we attended this last August. The words spoken were not in English so I did not understand, but love was felt. This year, 2017, will be a year of seeing, hearing and feeling Love.

There is still a great need for help in the southern area as many people are without homes and living necessities. A group of Doctors and individuals of Vine Church in Haiti were planning to go to Cayes in southern Haiti to help recovery efforts from Hurricane Matthew. Due to schedule changes, they are now planning to go in mid-January. Please keep them in your prayers as they plan and travel. Through your support of this mission, Vine Ministry is able to fund a significant part of this outreach. We look forward to sharing with you the good report this team will share with us when they return.

Evelyn traveled to North Carolina to visit her daughter Susan and Joe Busch. As she was looking toward a wonderful Christmas Celebration with family, Evelyn experienced intense stomach pain. Susan rushed her to the hospital where Doctors diagnosed pancreatitis and gall stones. She was in the hospital for five days as they treated the pancreatitis and removed her gall bladder. Surgery went well and Friday she was able to go home to Susan’s and enjoy Christmas as she had expected. We cannot thank you enough for your thoughts and prayers for Evelyn during this painful and difficult time.

Jim and Jo traveled to Kelowna British Columbia in Canada to have Christmas with two of their daughters and their families; Emily, Nathan and Ava, and Annaka and Leon. This was an exciting and joyous time. This was special for us as we have never celebrated Christmas in Canada with them.

Thank you so much for Christmas gifts and cards sent to Jim Jo and Evelyn this Season.

We are requesting your prayer support for Mom the third week in February. Evelyn will undergo partial knee replacement on her left knee. This is a common procedure but still requires extensive rehabilitation to fully recover. As a result, we will not be doing prolonged travel this spring. We may be able visit your group or church if you are within a day’s travel from Goshen, IN. If this will work for you, please give us a call to arrange a date and time.

Thank you abundantly for your prayers and financial support for the people of Haiti. May the Lord bless you and continue to expand your influence in this New Year ahead.

DECEMBER 2016

We are exceptionally grateful for this year as we come to the end of 2016. There have been numerous milestones that we can look to as land marks of our journey in this mission to Haiti.

In May, Jim took over the leadership of Vine Ministry. This has allowed Evelyn to be relieved of the day to day business of Vine Ministry. One of the first things we were able to do was travel to churches and present our vision. Your hospitality never ceased to be amazing.

In August we traveled to Haiti for our annual event of presenting each student and their parents your support to attend school for another year. 155 students are attending school this year due to the gracious giving of 110 groups and individuals.

One parent wrote a very nice card expressing appreciation for sending his children to school.

It is written in French and is translated:

Thank you very much for the great service you gave me. May God bless you abundantly.
This beautiful attention was very appreciated. Decidedly, you are one of those people who help make this world a better place to live.santiague-f-mariano-2

We had a wonderful meeting with our Board Members reviewing this last year and planning for the future. We do have our work cut out this next year. We will continue to expand the Clinic. We will also be developing plans for a school.

Please extend a warm welcome to our new Board Members Linda Seals, Daniel King and Gloria King. Gary Whitfield and Bill Seals will continue another term. Buddy Fitzgerald, Mary Dick, Greg Golden, Janet Elliot and Evelyn Dick are the rest of the Board. Their warmth and energy is contagious.

We are happy to know that a group of Doctors and some of the youth are traveling to Cayes. This town was recently hit by the hurricane Mathew. Pastor Wilnes has some family in this area. They will be offering help where ever needed. You are helping this team financially through Vine Ministry. Thank you for your generous support to Vine Ministry to continue to enable Vine Church to help those in need.

We are especially thankful for the gift from the Judy and Tucker Maxwell Fund of the Franklin County Foundation, a regional foundation of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Maxwell, Jr.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and may all of your families be blessed in this Season. Thank you for praying for us and Haiti faithfully through the year and supporting financially.

NOVEMBER 2016

Senior Pastor, the associate and the assisant

#GIVING TUESDAY

LEAVING A LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP AND

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matt 28:19

Thank you and thank you again for investing in Eglise Evangelique Baptiste de la Vigne in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In the above picture is Pastor Joel St Amour, Associate Pastor Daniel Telfort and Youth Pastor Wilnes. Associate Pastor Daniel has written to me and thankfully expressed his gratitude for what the Lord has done this past year in this vibrant church. As of July 10, 39 people gave their hearts to the Lord as the Word of God was preached. 20 people were baptized this summer and 22 brought their letter of affiliation to Vine Church bringing the total for this year 42 new members. What a great time of rejoicing as many begin a new life in Christ. Associate Pastor Daniel reports that the Youth are very active in sharing the Gospel and are a significant reason for growth in the church.

It is a blessing to all of us to see that Haiti is a country touched by the hand of God. 35 years ago, LeRoy and Evelyn Dick stepped into their adventure of being ministers to Haiti by establishing a Literacy Program with Christian World Outreach. Later they developed a school of ministry, Hope Academy, which has trained many for ministry as Pastors and Primary Health Care workers. LeRoy’s special project was gardening. Many learned the benefits and skills for growing their own food.

Since 1989 the Dicks and local Pastor Joel St Amour planted a church in Port-au-Prince. This small beginning grew into the church it is today. Over 300 now have community, encouragement, and teaching of the Gospel for their growing families. Even after LeRoy graduated to his heavenly home, Evelyn continued on with the work God clearly established. Vine Church and you our supporters built a church building that has withstood the Earthquake of 2012 and recently the heavy winds and rain of hurricane Matthew. There was no damage to the church and no member of Vine Church was hurt. Although, some members had family in the South Western part of Haiti that was devastated by the hurricane. Vine Church has joined together to help these victims.

Thank you for generously remembering Vine Church through these exciting years. It is to God’s glory that these godly men and women are using their talents for the body of Christ on earth. The tireless labor of LeRoy and Evelyn Dick has produced good fruit and will continue on in future generations.

We are excited to report to all of you that Pastor St Amour’s wife, Marie, has successfully completed a heart transplant and is in full recovery. She is now home and working through physical therapy. Please continue to pray specifically for Marie and Pastor Joel in the days and months ahead.

Associate Pastor Daniel asks for prayer for strength and energy. He works as Chief Translator of the Old Testament Creole Project. This winter he and others are translating 1 & 2 Kings from the original languages into Creole. The New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs are completed and being printed in South Korea. Pastor Daniel teaches regularly at the Seminary (STEP) and will be teaching Prophets I, Intro to Philosophy and Logics. His children are growing and full of energy. Hadassa and Davidson require special care and Junior keeps up with everyone.

November 7 the Vine Ministry Board of Directors will be meeting in Albany, GA to review this last year and to confirm direction for the next. Please keep us in prayer to see and hear from Father God’s perspective the plans laid in front of us.

Black Friday – Cyber Monday – #GivingTuesday

On November 29, 2016 help our brothers, sisters and friends in Vine Church.

#GivingTuesday is celebrated on Tuesday, November 29, following Thanksgiving after the Black Friday and Cyber Monday. As an act of Thankfulness, please consider including Vine Ministry in your holiday and end-of-year giving.

Some of the needs of Vine Church and Vine Ministry are basic supplies and major equipment for the clinic and the ministry car is in need of major repair. It needs a fly wheel and clutch. Contributions to Vine Ministry will help to meet these needs and more.

QUICK AND EASY WAYS TO SUPPORT THE FUTURE OF VINE MINISTRY

For decades Vine Ministry, Inc. has benefited from the generosity of people who remembered us through generous gifts these many years. Your support is extremely important to us and is greatly appreciated. Here are four ways you might consider including a gift in your plans.

  1. Ask your heirs to give a gift to us in your memory.

A few good reasons to make use of this unusual charitable planned giving strategy:

  1. You already have your plans the way you want them and you don’t want to revise your will.
  2. Your estate will not be able to take advantage of a tax deduction for bequests to charity.
  3. You trust your heirs to carry out your wishes even if they are not legally required to do so.

If you are leaving most of your assets to your children, grandchildren, a few close friends, etc., you could arrange with one or more of them to donate a small portion of their inheritance to us in your memory. They would get an income tax deduction for the gift when they make it, reducing the cost to them.

  1. Name our organization as one of the beneficiaries of whatever remains in your IRA or retirement plan.

Most people won’t need all the money in their IRA or other retirement plan. If you leave the remainder to your heirs, there will be income tax to pay, and maybe state or federal estate taxes. If you leave the remainder to us, there will be no taxes due. Changing the beneficiary of an IRA is not difficult to do. Simply request a change of beneficiary form from the company managing the plan and follow the instructions.

  1. Arrange for the remainder in a savings or stock account to go to our organization.

It is possible to rename a bank savings account in such a way that at your death whatever remains in the account passes automatically to us. While you are living, only you can put money in or take anything out of the account. This is a revocable arrangement, meaning you can always become the sole owner again. It is easy to do. Simply tell the bank officer than you want to rename the account as “(Your name) in trust for Vine Ministry, Inc.”.

The terminology for a stock account future gift is a TDO, or transfer on death account. Speak with your broker and say you want to rename the account in such a way that anything in the account at your death automatically becomes the property of our organization.

  1. Make our organization a beneficiary of a life insurance policy you already own.

If you have life insurance you have probably named your spouse, children or other relative as the beneficiary. We are not suggesting that you change that, just that you include us as well. We’re happy for whatever you choose to leave us! As with the gift from an IRA, it is a fairly simple matter to request a change of beneficiary form from the insurance company and follow the instructions.

OCTOBER 2016

What a great experience visiting the Clinic at Vine Church. The staff was working together to provide medical care to the patients who were waiting at the Clinic. Thank you to all who have supported this aspect of Vine Ministry. The Clinic is a small and growing outreach providing healthcare to Vine Church and the surrounding Port-au-Prince area. The day we visited was Eye Clinic Day. All patients who came were seen by an Eye Dr. and, if needed, they were prescribed medicine. The pharmacy is small with only a limited amount of medication. The patient must take the prescription and fill it elsewhere.

IMG_0297IMG_0304(1)October 16 is World Food Day

What a fitting day to introduce an updated ministry. Inflation in Haiti is out of control. Money buys less and less including less and less food. In years past, Madame Joel St Amour took it upon herself to help those in Vine Church in need of food. During that time we supported her efforts with funds. Currently, Madame Joel (Marie) is in Grand Rapids Michigan awaiting a heart transplant.

So, we asked Dr. Mirhioll how we could reinstate this ministry. She recommended the Clinic to assume this ministry to those struggling for food. Vine Ministry has committed to send money monthly to the Clinic to support these efforts. Your donations to Vine Ministry are a part of feeding the hungry.

Report from Camp Alexander Mack

Jessie Kreider, Program Director at Camp Alexander Mack in Milford, Indiana, read Evelyn’s book LIFE ON THE EDGE last spring. She was inspired to share stories about LeRoy and Evelyn’s experiences in Haiti to illustrate the camp theme this summer. The theme was the Courage to Show Up and the story of Abram. She used excerpts from the book to go with this theme. Day 1 was Fearless Faith, Courage in Community. They thanked the campers for them having the courage to follow God’s call to camp for a week this summer and leave the life of comfort behind them. Their goal was to sponsor 3 students. As the last week approached, it did not look like they would make it. But before the week was over, they were over their goal of 3 and soon reached enough to sponsor over 4 ½ students!

These students and Vine Ministry want to thank the campers of Camp Mack for raising $1666.99!

For all who extended a helping hand to our brothers and sisters in Haiti, Thank You.

SEPTEMBER 2016

I am beyond words as to how to thank each and every one of you for your gracious support of the children at Vine Church in Haiti. Your consistent giving through the years for these children is changing the legacy for THEIR children.

Mr. Santiague was all smiles as he expressed his gratitude for your support. His son, Samuel, will not need our help this year because he has a full scholarship for his final year in medical school. Thanks be to God! We are now able to send Samuel’s younger brother, Kelly, to University this year. This family’s legacy is being changed.

The impact of having an education in Haiti is greater than we can imagine. Jobs are very hard to find in Haiti. Even if you have an education and training, they can only work if they are able to find work. So when someone does find a job, they are expected to care for their own family as well as some of their nieces and nephews. They do this willingly. When one person can read and write and complete training, many are blessed beyond their immediate family.  Once again, thank you so much!

Vine Ministry’s primary focus is to send children to school grades 1 thru 13 (Haitian schools have 13 grades). Even so, through your support, we are very blessed to be able to send some deserving young people to training beyond the High School level. This year we were able to send 10 students to either University or Vocational School.

Tuesday, August 16th, we began meeting with parents and students. Each student proudly wore their uniforms from the school they attended last year and showed us their report card. Their report card showed they had passed last year’s grade and advanced to the next grade. School should start September 8th; and just like children in the United States, they need time to buy school supplies including books, notebooks, uniforms, etc. before the first day of school.

In three days we registered a total of 150 students. Without your continual care these students would not be attending school this year. Thank you again.

We were only in Haiti for 12 days, but were able to accomplish most of what we had set out to do. Mom was able to reconnect with several friends that she and Dad had over the years in Haiti. This was my first time in Haiti as the CEO of Vine Ministry. I was able to make new connections with several missionaries. Connections with others are critical to working well in this 3rd world country. The missionary community is very willing to offer suggestions and encouragement out of their own experiences.

We were blessed to be able to spend time talking with Dr. Mirhioll Jeremy about the future of the LeRoy Dick Clinic. Three days a week the clinic is open to see patients. The Clinic offers quality care for the patients that are seen. Please pray that equipment can be purchased to broaden the services offered.

On Friday, Pastor Daniel had two weddings to perform. We were able to squeeze time between these to talk with him about our work with Vine Church. One thing we would like to discover is the effectiveness of the student support program. Therefore, I will be gathering a list of students who have graduated over the last 25 years. Pastor Daniel will attempt to contact each one to find out where they are now and what they are doing. The results of this short survey will help us understand how Vine Ministry may better help this growing church.

Our trip went well, except for one unfortunate event, our car’s transmission failed. It is in the shop and will soon be repaired.

AUGUST 2016

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” Psalm 27:13

We are excited to be going to Haiti on August 11. The children are gearing up for another school year with renewed joy. Please let us know that you are supporting a child this year for school.

Your gift of $360 will give one child school for a year. Many supporters pledge $30 per month. This gift is not insignificant. Keeping a child in school for another year means there is no gaps in their education. It also means they will be able to read and write, having the skills necessary to get and keep a job as an adult. They will also not be dependent on others to read for them.

Following is a note from Associate Pastor Daniel Telfort:

As you know, we are in the midst of our annual Bible Conference. It is going well by God’s grace. Pastor Joel St Amour is able to be with us this year. We pray that the Lord would watch over Marie Andrée, his wife, so that there might be no complication while he is away from her.

We praise the Lord for the preaching of God’s word this past month. We are amazed at how many God saved from sin and eternal death every month at the Vine church as a result of the preaching of God’s word. For this past month we have seen 6 people come to Christ. On Sunday June 26 I continued preaching out of the book of Nehemiah. And the central idea of the sermon was “Attempt great things for God and expect great things from God,” as the famous missionary William Carey said it. It was a blessing to see 4 young people came to Christ, though the focus of the sermon was not the necessity for one to come to Christ. But as I said in the last ministry update, God has a way to man’s heart.

One of the special events that took place in June was the International Day of Children. The children’s department had the whole service on June 12th under the leadership of Sr. Merzula Jean and the other ones working with her. They did everything in the program from song leading to preaching. We are thankful for the next generation who is being prepared to serve the Lord when we will be gone.

Our church is growing both in quality and in quantity. It is a blessing to see hearts being changed through the working of the Holy Spirit. Many young people are walking closer to the Lord. Many people are getting saved. There could not be greater Joy for us. May the Name of the Lord be praised forever.

Daniel Telfort

Daniel and Ann and Davidson

We always thankful for your generous support through finances and prayer so this work may continue and be fruitful. Your sacrifice of generosity does not go unnoticed.

JULY 2016

LET EVERYTHING THAT HAS BREATH, PRAISE THE LORD” PSM 150:6

In August, mom, Evelyn, and I will be going to Haiti for the purpose of distributing the gifts you have generously given for the education of so many Haitian youth. The joy we feel on behalf of you is beyond words. The expressions of joy and gratefulness from these children and their parents makes the trip not only worthwhile but delightful and satisfying.
Student1

We are very grateful to you for supporting 80 youth to date for school next year. Last year there were 150+. Because the need is so great we have had to turn away applicants every year. This year our goal is 200 children in school through your help. I believe we can reach this.

Our trip to Haiti is earlier than most years due to Vacation Bible School at Vine Church the week of August 22 through 26 and school beginning tentatively the first week of September. The political environment can affect the start times of events, like school, in Haiti.

Therefore, please consider sponsoring a child in school. Our need is to have all 200 sponsored before we leave for Haiti on August 11. Now is the time to reach out for this project by sending us a note indicating how many children you will be supporting this year. A child needs $360 for the year. This can be given in total or as a monthly gift of $30/month.

Davidson Betsaleel Telfort at Birth Israel Hospital in Boston

We rejoice with Associate Pastor Daniel and his wife Anne as they returned to Haiti with their newborn son Davidson. As a family they have been through a lot and continue to rejoice in the Lord and His faithfulness to bring them through all difficulties.

July 3 to 10 will be Vine Church’s 24th Annual Conference. Several preachers will be preaching the Word of God. This is always a great time of celebration as 25 years ago Vine Church began meeting in a little grove of banana trees. God is SO good.

Marie St. Amour continues to wait for a heart transplant in Grand Rapids, Michigan along with Pastor Joel St. Amour. Their patience is steadfast as they continue in this difficult time.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued generous support. Many in this difficult country of Haiti are blessed. We stand as their voice to say Thank You.

JUNE 2016

   JUNE 2016

May has been a busy month. Jim has begun orienting to leading Vine Ministry and we took time to visit six church families: Trinity United Methodist, Anne Ashley United Methodist, Upper Claar COB, Harvest, Fellowship COB and Mount Pleasant COB. What a joy to reconnect with old friends and make many news friends over the past two weeks of May. We were blessed by the enthusiasm for what Vine Ministry is doing in Haiti.

Daniel Telfort’s new baby boy was born April 28th. He continues to have added medical costs. Davidson is diagnosed Down’s syndrome. Testing continues to determine his overall health. He is still in the hospital at Boston, Massachusetts. To help Daniel and his family with costs, just make a note designating for Daniel Telfort.

Now is the time to sponsor a child to attend school this next year. School in Haiti is not free nor public. Anyone who desires an education must pay tuition, books, supplies and uniforms. The cost through Vine Ministry is $360 for the year and is payable in full or $30 per month. This last year, through gracious donations from our supporters, we were able to sponsor over 150 students. Yet, we still had to turn other deserving children away. Please sponsor now so additional children will be able to attend school this next year.

Lack of education in Haiti is still a grave problem, yet we are having an impact. Several students that you have supported through the years have gone on to further their education in other schools including medical school. It is a long road, but we are making progress. Please sponsor a child and be a part of this important impact on the country of Haiti.

Following is a reflection of Cheryl Flegle from the mission trip of Trinity UMC to La Victoire: “My experience in La Victoire and Port Au Prince Haiti with our work team was both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.  Heartbreaking, seeing the circumstances in which the  Haitian people of all ages  live on a daily basis and their back-breaking work to provide the most basic of needs for themselves and their families.  Heartwarming, in their relationships and commitment to their faith. For example, the worship services at La Victoire Baptist Church and Vine Church in Port Au Prince where the singing of the choir and congregation could easily lift the roof.

They sing with every ounce of themselves, with such commitment that would cause you to believe they didn’t have a single care. Not one!

It was a privilege to be a part of our work group, to have Evelyn and Pastor Daniel as our guides, and to work beside the Haitians at the church construction site.  These hardworking individuals were working before we arrived and long after we departed each day.  And certainly doing it the hard way!  Our team did some blockwork and primarily supported the Haitian workers by becoming the cement bucket brigade.   We may not have spoken the same language, but we certainly communicated and a comradery was established.

My other favorite experiences were being a guest of the La Victoire Church School, visiting each classroom and sharing treats with the students.  Oh those dear children!!!   And, visiting Papillion Boutique in Port Au Prince, where partnering with the Apparent Project, Haitians are provided an opportunity to support themselves and their families in a positive and healthy manner while creating jewelry,  ornaments and housewares from often otherwise discarded materials such as cereal boxes and oil cans.

A week in Haiti every few years won’t really FIX anything -but- it definitely does develop an avenue of   understanding, and most importantly, simply being supportive.  The experience establishes relationships for which I am VERY THANKFUL and BLESSED!  I will always have a place in my heart for our Haitian friends….

I will always have a heart for Haiti.”

Thank you, Cheryl.
